LIONS V SWINDON, PREVIEW

LEICESTER skipper Danny King has hailed club bosses ahead of Wednesday’s Premiership home clash with reigning Champions Swindon (7.30).

It’s been a frustrating start for the Watling JCB Lions who were strongly fancied in the build-up to the 2018 campaign.

But injuries to the likes of Josh Bates and Martin Vaculik early on have enforced a number of team changes.

King himself has also spent some time on the sidelines after suffering nerve damage in his arm.

But after a steady eight point showing in Monday’s British Final, he is hoping to play a starring role as the Lions aim for revenge following a last heat 46-44 defeat to the Robins at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena in April.

Said King: “I’m not 100 per cent yet and it is a waiting game but I can still do a job for the team.

“We all want to do it for the fans but we’ve been hit with all these injuries and bad luck.

“But the management keep answering; they went out and signed Kenneth Bjerre and they keep trying to strengthen all the time.

“There’s a lot of meetings to go though and hopefully we’ve now got a team who can stay injury free and push on for the play-offs.”

LEICESTER: Kenneth Bjerre, Kyle Newman, Danny King, Krystian Pieszczek, Hans Andersen, James Sarjeant, Todd Kurtz.

SWINDON: Nick Morris, Adam Ellis, Troy Batchelor, David Bellego, Tobiasz Musielak, Zach Wajtknecht, Jack Smith.
